Every Major Announcement at Xbox’s 2025 Showcase

The Xbox Games Showcase has just finished up and with it comes a plethora of new game announcements to get your hands on, here are the biggest announcements from the June 8th, 2025 Xbox Games Showcase.

Talking Gun and Skateboards

A surprise announcement to be sure is Squanch Games’s comedic, weapon talking game High on Life getting a sequel, High on Life 2, coming this winter. Thankfully, studio founder Justin Roiland will not be a part of the game’s creation.

The Plague Continues

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy gets a harrowing trailer, as we follow a woman through caves, what is seemingly ancient Rome, and one massive looking minotaur. The game is expected in 2026.

An Xbox in your Hand!

ROG teams up with Xbox to deliver the anticipated Xbox Handheld, the ROG Xbox Ally X. Sarah Bond comes on to speak further on this, stating ‘the Xbox Ally is an Xbox you can hold in your hands, bringing together the power of Xbox and the freedom of Windows.’ Steam and battle.net games can also be played on the device, which is looking to drop later this year.

Silksong! (Kind of)

Alongside the announcement for the Xbox/ROG handheld device came a casual drop that Silksong will launch alongside the device later this year, with short snippets of gameplay being shown throughout the handheld’s trailer. Safe to say Silksong fans are finally getting what they were waiting for, even if the announcement was…odd.

MeatBoy goes 3D

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! Super Meat Boy gets a sequel that finally takes out meaty friend to the land of 3D platforming, looking to launch early 2026.

Ninja Gaiden is Back!

Announced a few months ago, we get an extended trailer for Platinum Game’s Ninja Gaiden 4, showcasing the return of Ryu, and a new protagonist, in all their beautiful, slashing, gory glory. The title launches October 21st, 2025.

Game Freak on Xbox?

I never thought I would ever utter those words again, but its true. After only ever releasing (to my knowledge) two titles on the Xbox consoles, Beast of Reincarnation, a new Game Freak title is heading to Xbox in 2026. What looks to be an action souls-like, with stunning graphics, this will surely make Pokemon fans a little jealous.

Wind The Clock Back

inXile comes back into the fray with another look at Clockwork Revolution, now with an extended trailer showcasing characters with such names as ‘The Knob’ and ‘The Pissed Off Doll’. Its rough British edge however does showcase an intriguing premise involving time travel, and how changing past events alters the current world. No date has been announced for the game as of yet.

A Hotel Where Everyone Sings?

What I have widely seen through live reactions as the most…confusing, trailer of the day, There Are No Ghosts At The Grand looks to be a hotel/town management mystery game, with residents who really love to show off their singing prowess. From a talking cat to threats of being ‘wicker man’d’, the game looks to drop in 2026.

P4R(evival)

And there we have it, much to the disappointment of Yuri Lowenthal fans, the awaited Persona 4 remake has been announced by Atlus, however no release date has been shown. I can only hope they do Yosuke justice without Yuri’s presence.

The Reload of A Remaster of Gears of War

Jokes aside, Gears of War Reloaded looks to bring all fans of the Gears series together, with cross play and cross platform progression, promising 120FPS, 4K resolution and a fully modernised multiplayer. Horde fans rejoice, as this drops August 26th, 2025.

A Game That Makes You Feel…

Invincible VS, a 3v3 tag fighter, gets announced by Skybound Games, and showcases the shows infamous gory nature through its combat and finishing moves, as well as sporting the classic Invincible look, and an animation budget that may be slightly higher than the shows. This looks to drop in 2026.

The Return of David Mason

And finally, the show ends on a look at Call of Duty, Black Ops 7, with the return of Black Ops 2 protagonist David Mason. In an official statement, the Call of Duty blog states:

‘In Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the most mind-bending Black Ops ever. Developed as the next evolution of Black Ops, this is the first-ever consecutive release within the series, set more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.’

Zombies fans can also expect the return of the Dark Aether story.
